I have a loud vibration between 50 and 70 MPH, 2006 F250

Customer Question

I have a loud vibration between 50 and 70 MPH
JA: What is the model/year of your Ford?
Customer: 2006 F250 super duty
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes, I am hoping to fix it myself. I checked the lug nuts and the universal joints.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: it has about 132,000 on it and came from Arizono so there is very little rust.

have you checked the wheel bearings?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
No, Could they only act up at certain speeds?
Expert:  john -aka eauto replied 4 months ago.

can you check for play?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
That I know, there is no play in the wheels.
Expert:  john -aka eauto replied 4 months ago.

is it front or rear? does it go away if you shift to neutral?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
It seems like the rear because I don't feel it on the steering wheel. I didn't try shifting to neutral but it does stop when I leqave up on the gas but starts to come back if I am coasting down a hill and the engine is braking some.

can you try that and get back to me?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.

great

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I took my truck on the highway yesterday and shifted into neutral at 65 and the vibration was still there.
Expert:  john -aka eauto replied 4 months ago.

then its in the tires wheel or bearings

Expert:  john -aka eauto replied 4 months ago.

have the tires been checked?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
They are fairly new but I will take a look at them and check the air pressure. My be it is one of the u-joints that I just can't tell by looking at or by checking for play. In the past I've always been able to see something or hear something to indicate a bad joint. Maybe it's the carrier bearing. I didn't really look at that. I'll get back to you.
Expert:  john -aka eauto replied 4 months ago.

if it does it in neutral its not a carrier beearing
