My 2008 Expedition 5.4l just pulled the P2004 Code. Dealer

Customer Question

My 2008 Expedition 5.4l just pulled the P2004 Code. Dealer tells me I need to replace the intake manifold runners and intake manifold for a total cost of $1,800, saying this is a known problem for this engine. Does this make sense?
JA: Just to clarify, what's the exact code? And have you tried to reset it?
Customer: P2004. I have asked that they reset.
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I can probably fix myself, but wanted to kow if what the dealer is saying is accurate. I assume all I need to replace is the intake runner control.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: Just over a year ago, we had the right exhaust manifod replaced, requiring the removal of the right cylinder head, at a total cost of over $4,000.

Hello, yes you are correct, I have only replaced the actuator on the back of the intake manifold. It will require removal of the intake manifold in order to replace the runner actuator. It will come with instructions on how to re time the actuator correctly. They dont want you to move the new actuator arms during the assembly process.
