Have Ford Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Hi. You could have a problem with the actual base engine. Like a valve. Did you, or can you do a compression check on the engine? Does the check engine light come on?
Ok. Is this the SOHC 4.0? or the pushrod 4.0?
And how many miles are on it?

The previous tech opted out. Would you like me to help?
Some of the few possible causes are low fuel pressure, vacuum leaks and internal engine issues with the valve train.
