I have put in a new block, new injectors, new injector

Customer Question

I have put in a new long block, new injectors, new injector harness, new turbo, new turbo pedestal, new fuel injector pump, the truck idles real bad at start, but then starts to run better after the motor heats up, 10 miles of driving. Any idea what could cause this?
JA: Has the vehicle turned into a gas hog? And how does it start -- same as usual?
Customer: Starts right up
JA: What is the model/year of your Ford?
Customer: 2001 7.3
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: thinking about taking it to a dealer, but not sure if they will just charge a lot and not find anything.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: I would hope not

Hello, sounds like an injector issue or wiring issue. Have you run a diagnostic check for codes? New valve cover wiring harnesses?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
New valve cover harnesses, nee injectors, twice on 1 bad 7

If I install a bullydog system will this help with diagnostics

If it can pull codes and run an injector buzz test yes. Sounds like a defective injector issue from your description, gets better as it heats up

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Very well could be. Have done the buzz test. My mechanic said all injectors working fine

Then a cylinder contribution test/power balance and compression would be what to check next, assuming the engine has no issues.

Ok, thank you
