Expert:  Chad Farhat replied 4 months ago.

did you check the coolant level ?

is the car cooled down now ?

Expert:  Chad Farhat replied 4 months ago.

is there any check engine light on when it is running and idling ?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Coolant apparently was low. Has been well over an hour. No notifications except original overheat message
Expert:  Chad Farhat replied 4 months ago.

well you need to top it off , you can use water until you get some antifreeze , how much was it missing , a gallon ,1/2 gallon

if it has been well over an hour you should be able to open radiator cap to check now

Expert:  Chad Farhat replied 4 months ago.

after topping it off , let it run and see for any apparent leaks , look under the engine if you can

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Will that turn the fail safe off. The check engine lite is on. just turned on again and it is still registering hot.
