Welcome,

I have been a professional master mechanic for over 35 years and am happy to help you with this.

Most likely the rear shock/strut top mounting bolts that hold the shock to the car. Its not an expensive fix and you can just stop by any repair shop to have them look at it. You DO NOT have to take it to the dealer because it will cost a lot more.

Any further questions on this just let me know.

Is it dangerous to drive around with it until I find someone to fix it
Expert:  Virtual Wrench replied 6 months ago.

Hi,

Not at all. Its a very common problem but just get it in when you can because it will get louder over time and will wear that tire out sooner than it should.

Thanks for asking!

Do you think it can be something else besides that or most likely not ?
Expert:  Virtual Wrench replied 6 months ago.

Hi,

Its definitely in that shock/strut area. At worst, the top mount will need replaced.

Does it also sound like something is bouncing like say like if the trunk was opened and bouncing ?
Expert:  Virtual Wrench replied 6 months ago.

Yes it does. If the top mount is either just loose, or the top mount is worn, it will make the exact same type noise.

It just has to be looked at to see which one is causing it.
