Customer Question

I have a 2007 falcon that shudders when I accelerate in 3ed gear
JA: How old is the transmission? Have you checked the fuel filters?
Customer: it did it a few years ago and I put a reco gearbox in it. but it has done it ever since but is getting slightly more severe lately
JA: What is the model of your '07 Ford?
Customer: xt falcon
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: no I didn't do any of the work my mechanic did. I wanted to find out what the problem was if I changed the gear box and it still shutters. how I could fix it
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: i know its also not the tail shaft bearing as i have recently had it replaced
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Ford Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.

Hi there,

Have you checked the engine and transmission mounts recently?

Has the vehicle been serviced, spark plugs etc?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
its serviced every 10000kms. no i havnt checked as yet, ive also heard about transmission oil and coolant mixing in the gearbox, would that cause a shuddering?
Expert:  Gary replied 4 months ago.

Coolant and transmission fluid cross contamination will cause transmission shudder and ultimate transmission failure if not addressed.

The radiator transmission cooler cracks internally.

Trans fluid pressure weeps into the cooling system.

Hot coolant under pressure weeps into the transmission, once the engine is shut off.

I would get a trans fluid sample, and a coolant sample for analysis.

Then replace the radiator if contamination exists.

Flush both systems afterwards.
