Have Ford Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Hello and thank you for your question,The most common cause for this type of problem is due to a short in the Overdrive circuit causing the fuse #45 to blow and the short in most cases is caused broken wire in the Red/Yellow (RD/YE) wire feeding the Overdrive Cancel Switch (OCS) on the shiftier. You can check this by removing the steering column cover and inspect the Red/Yellow (RD/YE) wire feeding the Overdrive Cancel Switch for any signs of a broken wire causing a short to ground. If the wire to the shiftier is shorting out you usually have to replace the shiftier which comes with a new harness. Check this and let me know what you find and we can work from there if need be.
Have you scanned the system and if so where there any fault codes?
Okay , lets get a scan done and let me know the results.
Your very welcome and thank you as well.
