Just changed out the alternator that went bad on me

Customer Question

just changed out the alternator that went bad on me yesterday and now all of the sudden my 2006 ford freestar will not rev past 3000 rpm in park
JA: Do you have brake lights? Have any trouble codes popped up?
Customer: yes i have brake lights and no codes have appeared
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: i was wondering if i diconnect the negative terminal from the battery for ten minutes to reset the ecu/pcm if this would fix the problem
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: something similar happened about 2 months ago and they had to change a part that was causing it to misfire on 2 cylinders
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Ford Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.
