Customer Question

I have this 05 escape, 2.3 the chain jumped on. 100K miles. A ral rat. I found article on this site stating I can use a straight edge on the cams for timing alignment. I am assuming there is a slot behind the gears. How do I know the cams are right side up?
TDC I got. These seem to be pretty boiler plate and straight forward.

It shut down normally a few days ago, but was popping the next time she went to start it. I haven't gotten to the leak down yet.
FYI, I am an electrical engineer and a very advanced Shade tree. Do it all except steering boxes. Mopar/Cummins guy
