Customer Question

2004 Ford F150 FX4 engine dies at low speed (like coming to a stop sign, etc) or when backing up. When it does this is also has a very loud knocking noise like the engine has a rod loose. Give it gas and the knocking noise stops. No check engine light is coming on and had check with a tester and their is no code giving.

I'm an independent contractor and I don't get paid until a rating has been made.

We can go back and forth as needed to help resolve the issue you are having. Follow ups are free after ratings, so rate in confidence!

It sounds like you are more describing a lifter problem or a VVT problem. Either way, with it sounding like a rod or a hard knock, I would have the internals checked on this engine. You definitely don't want it to be a rod and end up buying a while engine if it comes apart. Same with the lifter. The VVT will just make noise and the truck will stall out and not start from it jumping time.

I see you viewed this and this is still showing as an open question due to no positive (3 stars or more) rating.

Were you not pleased with my service to you or is there a rating issue? Please let me know if you still need assistance with this, if there is a rating issue, and/or you need more time to respond.

I like to make sure all my customers are satisfied since you did pay a deposit for me to assist you, whether I’m paid by a positive rating feedback or not.
