Could use help isolating knock, tick on a 6.4

Customer Question

Could use help isolating knock, tick on a 6.4 liter, noticeable at idle .noise does not go away completely when injector is deadened
JA: Many things can cause a car to make those weird sounds. Some simple, some complicated. Fortunately, the mechanic I'm going to connect you with knows all the tricks and shortcuts. Tell me a bit more about what's going on so he can help you best.
Customer: No smoke at idle, rocker arms are new, injectors are new,
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself?
Customer: Yes, we are diesel shop
JA: Great! What have you tried so far?
Customer: Swapping injector, inspecting rocker assemblies, cancelling injectors
JA: Is there anything else the Ford Mechanic should be aware of about your Ford?
Customer: Vehicle probably is usually overloaded!weve been around quite a few of these, just can't quite decide on piston or possibly rod bearing. I believe we have ruled out injectors
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Ford Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.

Have you checked the crankcase pressure yet, I suspect from experience you have the beginning of a piston failure, that is why the noise lessens when the injector is cancelled.
