Customer Question

I have a 98 escort sohc 2.0L and can't find the location of the evap purge control valve. The diagram provided for the previous poster is for a 97 model.
JA: Sometimes things that you think will be really complicated end up being easy to fix with Ford. The Ford Mechanic I'm going to connect you with knows all the tricks and shortcuts. Tell me a bit more about what's going on so he can help you best.
Customer: SES, Scan code p0443, so I want to check the evap circuit starting with the purge control.
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself?
Customer: Yes, If I can believe the thrown code p0443, I should be able to test it and or replace it.
JA: Great! What have you tried so far? Is there anything else the Ford Mechanic should be aware of about your Ford?
Customer: Revs high when started, the settles to norm, then lugs. I also hear a hissing near injector rail/intake manifold (on/off, not continuous). I also have another issue maybe not related.
JA: Many things can cause a car to make those weird sounds. Some simple, some complicated. Fortunately, the mechanic I'm going to connect you with knows all the tricks and shortcuts. OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Ford Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.
