Possible oil leak above oil pan gasket at the interim oil pan

Customer Question

Possible oil leak above oil pan gasket at the interim oil pan plate. Has RTV on it.
JA: An oil leak can be frustrating and tough to diagnose. Fortunately, the mechanics we work with have tons of experience dealing with them. Tell me a bit more about what's going on so he can help you best.
Customer: Ok, 2004 Ford Escape has an oil pan and then there is like a spacer plate above that (few inches thick). This spacer plate also appears to have a leak. I want to know if I have to unbolt the crank to remove it. It looks like you might.
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself?
Customer: Well the short answer is yes. But this appears to be the lesser of the two leaks. So if you have to remove the crank then I'll settle for just doing the oil pan.
JA: Is there anything else the Ford Mechanic should be aware of about your Ford?
Customer: Nope
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Ford Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.

It's the V6. Probably more than a 2.0. It's a small SUV

what you see s an upper pan is actually part of the block. I wouldnt reseal that unless it was pouring out
Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 6 months ago.
do the lower pan and take it from there if its leaking. Its common to see some seepage up there
Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 6 months ago.
no reason to play with crank unless its a terrible leak
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Ok. I mean it actually looks like it's integral to the main bearing caps. It has perimeter bolts like the oil pan, but it also has a shield and/or baffle bolted to it inside which also looks like it has the main bearing csb bolts holding it in.
