Ford F-i50: I'm having issues with a 2006 Ford Triton 3V 5.4

Customer Question

I'm having issues with a 2006 Ford Triton 3V 5.4 engine. The engine rocks side to side and stalls while idling.

Does this only happen when the engine is hot or at operating temperature?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
The condition starts when the vehicle is first started and remains.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
The vehicle idles poorly, but when depressing the accelerator the engine will rev up and sounds good. Makes me think that it may be in the engine timing.
Expert:  James replied 11 months ago.
Yea it is due to timing. If you unplug the VCT solenoids does it idle smoothly?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I have replaced both VCT solenoids with new to no change with the issue.
Expert:  James replied 11 months ago.
If VCT solenoids don't make a difference I would recommend testing actual oil pressure. You need 25psi of actual oil pressure for the vehicle to run correctly. If you start dropping below 25psi the timing will be off and cause an issue.

I've just gotten back to my computer and reviewed your answer. I'll hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge tomorrow on the engine and test the pressure. I'll be in contact with you afterwards. Thanks.

Hello, were you able to determine what the issue was?
