Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
is the key fob integrated into the key? did you try to lock and unlock the doors first?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i tried both keys with same problem. i cant get it out of park either
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.

yes the anti theft light comes on
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
how did you check the battery?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
all of the interior lights work, when unlock it my headlights come on like normal, etc. when i put the key in and turn it the dash doesnt light up like normal
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
does the vehicle have the original battery?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no i put in a brand new battery 5 months ago
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
do you sync?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
yes
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
I have seen these vehicles with sync issues that will cause the battery to go dead. there is an updated program for this.
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
can you try to jump the battery? we can even try disconnecting the battery negative to see if the antitheft system is glitching.
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
did you say the anti theft light is flashing?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i tried to jump start as well to no avail
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
yes anti theft is flashing when i try to start
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
if you can try locking from the drivers door and then unlocking with the key.
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
if the battery is good we need to let the anti theft system know we are try to steal it.
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
did you try to lock and unlock by the fob yet? hit the lock and then unlock button twice.
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
sometimes a quick disconnect of the battery negative(leave of for a few minutes) will solve this too.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i tried Locking and unlocking with the fob twice. i put it in neutral with the shift lock override and tried to start but still nothing. i am going to try and disconnect the negative terminal. what response should i be looking for? also i just noticed that the anti theft light is continually flashing, even when the car is locked and im outside it.
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
it thinks someone is trying to steal the car.let do the battery disconnect
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I disconnected the negative terminal for a few minutes but when I reconnected still have the same problem. I disconnected the battery as a whole and reconnected after a few minutes and it's still doing the same thing

so when you turn the ignition key to run, with foot on the brake it will not come out of park?
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
try and hold one key under the ignition lock and start with the other key.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Nothing
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
do you have many things hanging on the keys?
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
there is a ring around the ignition lock cylinder, this is what picks up the signal from the key. I doubt you have 2 bad keys.
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
just for kicks try to lock and unlock the truck
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No, just a few other keys. I have been in and out of the trunk several times already while trying to fix it
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
ok, try turning the ignition to run (do not try to start)and wait 20 seconds shut off and repeat if light goes out it should start.
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
wait 20 seconds 2x
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Still no changes
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
I am out of ideas. with no scanner or diagnostic tools are hands are tied. receiver or module may have failed.
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
one last thing, try to bang on top of the dash. if there is a instrument cluster issue it could cause something like this.
Expert:  Ironmike replied 1 year ago.
a loose pin fit/connector issue could also cause a symp***** *****ke this.
