Driving along fine then , suddenly engine cuts out, checked fuel...fuel to motor. checked spark...no spark. Engine turns over but no start

Hello and thank you for your question,

The most common cause for the loss of spark on your 4.9 is in most cases due to a failed ignition module which mounts to the side of the distributor and due to the age of the truck you are best served to replace the distributor pick up inside of the distributor when replacing the ignition module. Before you consider replacing these parts be sure to pop the distributor cap and crank the engine over to be sure the distributor rotor is turning while cranking the engine over because there are also know issues with the pin on the distributor drive gear shearing off which can cause the distributor to not turn.
