I have a 2003 ford tauras. I hear a whining noise coming from the front drivers side. it sound like a bearing but it is front wheel drive.

Have the wheel bearings been checked for looseness?

I would jack the front end up on jack stands and run the driveline, listen to the wheels, if there is a bearing bad it will make more noise on one side, the faster it goes the louder it will get.
