What year model, mileage?

I subtle tick is considered okay, I mean one so quiet it can not be heard my many.

If its louder than its not normal, possible timing drive components or the valve train components to blame. If the vehicle has been driven hard it may be something worse like a bearing failing.

Have you done anything to diagnose it or try and remedy it?

It is a 2011 Ford Raptor with 76K. I have not done any diagnostics to date. I replaced the drive belt and noticed that one of the pulleys wasn't spinning 100% of the time. I've also noticed that it idles up and down enough to notice. Also the tick is similar to what most people would call lifter tick.

Have you kept up with the oil maintenance excellent or just okay?

Do you run it hard?

Is the noise from the front cover or a vale cover?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Always on time with oil and use only OEM filters. I would say it is coming from the valve cover.

Thanks, ***** ***** coming from a valve cover you need to remove that cover to check the hydraulic lash adjusters to see if any are not pumped up leaving the valve train components loose.
