I replaced both the cylinder and master cylinder and it will

Customer Question

I replaced both the slave cylinder and master cylinder and it will not build up enough pressure to disengage the clutch.

Hello Eddie here and I will try to help. Top off the fluid, and crack the bleeder on the slave cylinder until it starts to leak, let it leak for about 10-20 seconds. after that, snug the bleeder, and pump the pedal about 5 times, when the pedal comes up, using your toe, pull the pedal up towards you as far as you can. repeat that about 5 times and let me know what happens.

I did this several times and it has very little pressure.

Alright, that was my suggestion, let me opt out and see if any other experts have another suggestion. Thank you.

I assume the reason you replaced the slave and master cylinder is because the clutch would not release in the first place, so the problem might not have been what you replaced. Are you absolutely sure there isn't a leak and that the clutch itself is ok?

is this an internally or externally mounted slave cylinder?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Hi Mike, The slave cylinder was leaking so replaced with a new one but could not get it to build pressure. so replaced the master cylinder and no change. so took the cylinders back to store and got new one's. Now I was able to get it to 3/4 of peddle action but still can't put in gear when engine is running. I bleed it 3 times and no improvement.

This is an externally mounted unit.

This is the bleed procedure I show for that, perhaps you should try this,

Expert:  Mike S. replied 1 year ago.

did that work?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No it did not. But it did increase the pressure a little.
Expert:  Mike S. replied 1 year ago.

I would do it again and bleed it longer.
