Hello my name is Scott

Expert:  Scott W. replied 11 months ago.

Has there been any repair attempts? Has the fluid been checked hot in park? Are there any codes stored in the computer? Which gears are affected, forward or reverse?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
When At normal operating temperature transmission doesn't engage at idle need to rev motor to 1500 rpm to engage transmission fluid level is good just changed filter and fluid
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
When engine is cold transmission engage normal shifting working properly in all gears
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
When driving even at normal temperature shifting is good goes true all gears over drive lite flashes

Only in drive? Reverse is ok? Doesn't slip in reverse?

Expert:  Scott W. replied 11 months ago.

Do you have the 4r70w or the 4r100?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
No slip problems just engage problems when I come to complete stop
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I believe a 4r100
Expert:  Scott W. replied 11 months ago.

Is it possible to just have a damaged torque converter?
Expert:  Scott W. replied 11 months ago.

Yes you have the 4r100, what were the code numbers you received?

Expert:  Scott W. replied 11 months ago.

You have 2 open recalls on this truck also.

Expert:  Scott W. replied 11 months ago.

Speed control and fuel tank strap recall.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I don't have a obd scanner I will check it tomorrow my co worker has one
Expert:  Scott W. replied 11 months ago.

Ok from your desrciption the first thing I would check is underneath the main control there are 3 bolts that hold the center support to the case, I have seen several of these bolts back out and cause no forward engagement concerns. I would look here first, as long as there was no debris in the pan, I doubt the convertor is bad.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
There was some metal in the pan some fine particular and a piece 1/4 by 1/8
Expert:  Scott W. replied 11 months ago.

Ok that is not good, it needs to be disassembled and inspected to see where the metal came from. A overhaul or replacement will be necessary.
