2013 Ford Fiesta Rear Brake Shoes. What is the best strategy for installing shoes on this vehicle? it seems difficult or impossible to put the pieces together and then install it as a unit?

Yes, you have to disassemble the rear brake shoes and spring and assemble them to the backing plate.You cannot assemble the shoes and pop them to the axle. Start by removing the return springs,hold down springs that hold the shoes to the backing plate,separate the parking brake lever horseshoe clip if equipped. Pop out the star adjuster and springs.CLean off the backing plate and lube the pivot points of the backing plate with some antiseize where the shoes ride on the backing plate.Only disassemble one side at a time to reference how the other side looks if needed.The front brake shoe is usually smaller the the rear shoe, the amount of lining material on the primary shoe is less.
