I just replaced the relay the in line relay on the wiring harness and the ICM and still no power and will not start

Hi. Have you checked the fuses? Especially fuse 22 (20amp) in the fuse box under the hood?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
all fuses test good
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
But when we turn the engine over we can smell a short by the fuse box but cant locate it
Expert:  EricFromCT replied 11 months ago.

Ok. Then you will need to unbolt the fuse box and flip it over and inspect. I have seen the fuse boxes go bad internally, and I have seen all the wires turn green from corrossion under the box and near the inner fender well. You need to have power on the RED/LIGHT GREEN and BLACK/ORANGE wires at the glow plug relay with the key on. Which one does not have power?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I just checked fuse 22 and its bad let me go get a new fuse and try again
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Not getting power to the red and yellow wires
Expert:  EricFromCT replied 11 months ago.

What happened when you put the fuse in? You need to check the Red/light green wire at the glow plug relay. with the key on.

Expert:  EricFromCT replied 11 months ago.

Whats going on with it now? fuse 22 blow again after turning key on?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I went and got new fuse and as soon as i turned the key on it blew it
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
That means i have a short in the harnes right
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
have. Tried two fuses and blew both as soon as you turn the key on
Expert:  EricFromCT replied 11 months ago.

Yes you have a short. More than likely it is the fuel heater inside the fuel filter housing. Locate the connector for the fuel heater. Which should be next to the filter housing. Disconnect it, then verify that a new fuse does not blow.

Could it be a bad ECM/PCM unit causing it to blow the fuse ??
Expert:  EricFromCT replied 11 months ago.

I really dont see how the pcm could cause the fuse to blow. That fuse power the fuel heater and red/light green at the glow plug relay. The pcm grounds the glow plug relay on the pink/orange wire. But definatly not common. More common is the fuel heater to cause it to blow, or the glow plug relay itself.

Hey i unpluged the fuel heater and the fuse did not blow what do i do now ?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I also replaced the heater cylinoid
Expert:  EricFromCT replied 11 months ago.

You need to replace the heater element inside the fuel housing.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Okay i replaced the heater and now were getting smoke and it sounds like it wants to start but wont we bled all the air out of the shraider valve and still wont start
Expert:  EricFromCT replied 11 months ago.

You may need to check and/or replace the glow plugs.
