Can you try disconnecting the SPOUT connector and then try to start the engine?
The SPOUT connector should look like this:
How about if you disconnect the PCM?
Do you have a multi-meter?
I'll stand by to offer more help when you are ready.
I think you may just have a bad stator in the distributor (unless you replaced the entire distributor and not just the cap).
