I am getting very little air flow thru the defroster vent

Customer Question

I am getting very little air flow thru the defroster vent and the floor vent. All three fan speeds work and after dropping the glove door I could see a part move when the selector was changed to different vents ?

Welcome, I'm Chris and independent contractor that helps customers here.

Are you getting correct air flow from the dash vents?

When you select floor or defrost is the air blowing out in a different location than selected?

Thanks for letting me assist you. I hope I met all your expectations.

Thanks, ***** ***** model the mode doors are vacuum controlled by vacuum produced by the engine. Your truck has one door that controls air flow to the floor and flow to the panel or defrost. Then another door for panel or defrost. We need to first off move these doors manually while the actuators are removed to confirm the doors are fine and air flow can be correctly routed. Next we need to confirm the engine is getting 10 in hg of vacuum or more to the climate control and the climate control is sending the vacuum out correctly to the actuators. Below I have included links to check the vacuum, how the system works, and the location of the 2 actuators.

Can you check these things and report back?

I thought the vacuum was produced by a vacuum pump ?
Expert:  Chris (aka- Moose) replied 1 year ago.

This is why I asked which engine you have. Gas engines make vacuum, diesels do not, which is why they have a vacuum pump.

Sorry you did not like my help.
