We have a 2012 Ford F550 with Diesel. The 500 mile notice

Customer Question

We have a 2012 Ford F550 with Diesel. The 500 mile notice came on and less than 100 miles we added about 2 gal of DFE. The mileage on the warning keeps dropping. Is there a way to reset it, or do we need to add more DFE?

Hello, you want to make sure you do have the def tank full. Once it's full it should reset but not always. There was a PCM update to correct this concern. The other option is a factory scan tool can do a system fill activation. These are the only ways I know of to correct this concern.

hi James is correct, the only way to fix this is to take it into your dealer and have a "Refill activation procedure" done, what happen is owners keep filling the system but not putting enough fluid in to activate the refill sequence, so even though the system is full the computer doesn't recognize it and keeps counting down. I believe the system has to see at least 4 or more litres added to the system.
