Customer Question

on a 1988 ford f150 xlt lariet with a 4.9 ltr inline 6, i need to put in a oil drive shaft from the top.. which end of the oil drive shaft goes in the oil pump the beveled end or the flat end with the small retaining ring on it

Hello and thank you for your question,

When replacing the oil pump drive shaft you place the beveled end into the oil pump , the end with the clip on it goes into the distributor, the clip is in place to keep the shaft from falling into the oil pan if you some how miss the oil pump while installing the shaft.
