Have Ford Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Hello, Looks like Kenney is offline but I can help
This sounds like you have a vacuum hose that has failed. Normally it is the PCV hose on the passenger side of the engine but I have to ask which engine you have in this? 4.6?
Please let me know and see if you can feel the hose to see if it feels "mushy"
Ok, on this one it is common for the hoses to get mushy and fail leaving a large vacuum leak which whistles and cuts power. Can you check the hoses leading to the base of the throttle body and into the right (passenger) valve cover to see if they have a hole?

Check the nipples on the ends of the hard plastic hose
I think your trans issues will resolve once you get the vacuum leak stopped.
Let me know what you find and if the hose is not leaking we can go elsewhere but I am pretty sure of what you will find.
Is the check engine light on? I would expect it to be and lean codes stored. Have it read at an autopart store if the light is on and let me know what the codes are.
I will watch for your post tomorrow when you get a chance to check it out.
That is surprising, check the hose and let me know what you find
Great, I am here most of the time so no need to respond until you get it checked.
