Hello, my name is***** and thanks for your question.

The transmission warning "transmission malfunction" will be displayed when the powertrain control module sees any fault during transmission operation. This can include any sensor input out of range, any control circuit issue, greater than desired slippage, output actuator faults, temperature faults, incorrect gear ratio for gear commanded to name a few. With this message displayed there should be codes stored. Having the codes retrieved is the next step to determine which subsystem of the transmission is having faults.

hello, have you been able to have the codes checked? are you still needing assistance? Lou.
