Have a 1999 7.3 f250- died driving down the road- it turns

have a 1999 7.3 f250- died driving down the road- it turns over but will not crank. my fuel guage is off- in other words when it shows half a tank on the guage- it really acts as if its empty? however if I try to fill up it only holds about 40.00 in fuel, like I still have fuel in my tank? please help, not sure what could be wrong

Have you checked to see if the pump is actually sending fuel to the filter housing?

Do you know how to check the high pressure pump reservoir to see if t is full of oil? There is a small hex plug on the top of the cover, remove it and stick something in to check the level, it should be about 1/2"below the top.

It is at the very front of the engine under the lack plastic powerstroke cover, right beside the oil pressure sending unit.
