Customer Question

2008 Ford Crown vic police, alternator is Alternator is charging 14.6 volts but batt symbol goes on after a few seconds then goes out then goes back on then repeats. Alt plug was cut out and missing so I wired in a replacement. Pretty sure I got the right wires on the right colors but colors are a little faded.

good evening my name is ***** ***** I will assist

if the voltage at the battery stays constant while the light keeps going on and off then you have a bad diode in the alternator. if the voltage varies while the light is flickering, then you have a connection issue on the outside of the alternator.
