my 2001 explorer sport track sputters and wond rev more than 3000 when accelorator pressed
2 mechaqnics stumped
replaces mass air flow sensor and no improvement
checked one plug and looked new and normal use
any suggestions please?

Hello, does the check engine light come on or the overdrive light?

engine light used to come on but changed mass air sensor and it went out
codes show too rich fuel mixture before
no overdrive light comes on at all

also started truck up again and disconnected throttle position sensor
while running
depressed accelorator and same result was sputtering and revs max out at 3000
reconnected again the tps and no difference
was wondering why with no history of engine trouble like this before this truck just started acting up

was wondering if ford canada dealership has a better diagnostic program then regular garages
for this vehicle or not
maybe you could help my certified auto tech figure out a trouble shooting plan
with reports to you of the results he tests
he works at a garage of a friend of mine and has been trying to figure out the root cause
we are not thinking it is timing but maybe
want to eliminate the main control board as a problem area
by process of elimination
your trouble shooting suggestions would be very useful please

I can still further assist you. Dealers always have tool snowy other places don't have and can reduce the amount of time to find the issue. It sounds like your eve valve is stick open based on what your telling me.

Oh boy auto correct. I'm sorry. The EGR valve can carbon up. If it sticks open just slightly it can create a large power loss without making the vehicle run rough at all. This can also keep the engine rpm lower than normal.
