Hello and welcome to Just Answer!

No, the serpentine belt does not need to break in. If the belt has been replaced and is making noise but is not wet (from coolant or oil), then either the new serpentine belt is bad or it is loose. Keep in mind, it could be loose because of a few different reasons. If the belt is too big (it will be loose), if there is a pulley that is bad (that will cause the belt to be loose) or if the serpentine belt tensioner is starting to get weak it can cause the belt to be loose as well. So be sure to check those as well.
