1990 F 150 4x4: I have an 1990 f150 and the starter engages

Customer Question

I have an 1990 f150 and the starter engages but doesn't turn off with the key in off position. I replaced the switch on the column and had to take the ground off the battery, When I put the ground back on with the new switch off the starter engaged while the key was turned off- I re installed the old switch and the trouble is intermittant again - must be the new ignition switch or ???

Hello and thanks for choosing just answer. It sounds like the new ignition switch is worse then the old one. I would exchange it for sure. If they offer you different grades of switches you want the more expensive one. There is a big quality difference for sure.
