Ford F150: All of a sudden my truck started this violent bucking

Customer Question

All of a sudden my truck started this violent bucking motion. It's as if I were stomping
on the brake, then the accelerator. It smooths out once I get up to speed, but the bucking
is so hard the wheels squeal. Its a '81 Ford F150, three speed with overdrive standard transmission and a 300 inline six.

Hello. My name is ***** ***** I will be helping you today.
Start by checking the fuel pressure and let me know what you get.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I'm not sure how to check the fuel pressure. The tow truck driver that towed me home mentioned that my exhaust smelled "rich"?
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.
You just tee in a pressure tester in the fuel supply line.
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.
Unless hes recently had his nose calibrated Im not gonna go off his sense of smell.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I don't have a fuel pressure tester.
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.
Most parts stores will loan one to you with a deposit.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
OK, I'll have to run to town to get one. That will take a couple of hours. I haven't changed the fuel filter in years, probably worth getting one of those too?
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.
It couldnt hurt.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
OK, I'll let you know when I have done that.

Sounds good. I will be standing by. Just reply with your fuel pressure and we can move on. It also wouldnt hurt to grab a spark tester and check that and having a multimeter handy will help us in testing.
