E150: I put in a new alternator and now reason my

I put in a new alternator and now for some reason my battery is being drawn down very fast. I can see it on the meter. I felt there may be a problem with the battery so I replaced it. Same issue. could a new alternator have a short in it ? I replaced the alternator because the battery light had come on and it test failed. all my cables for the battery are in good condition. keep in mind the starter is orginal, truck has 166.000 4.6 litter 2007 e150
