F150: putting timeing chains back on 5.4l 3v left cam phaser

Customer Question

putting timeing chains back on 5.4l 3v left cam phaser sliped and turned how do you get it back in time and hold to put chain on

The way to hold the camshaft is to use a 15mm socket on the bolt for the cam phaser into position and then reinstall the chain and then the tensioner. Do force the camshaft around. If you feel tension, then turn the crankshaft. Your engine is an interference engine where the pistons can contact the valves. Please ask more questions about this if you need more information.

Does the chain jump before you l the tensioner guide and tensioner?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
no just before it gets near the two colored links

You need to use the socket and ratchet to hold the camshaft steady to allow you to line the marks up. You will need to chain, guides and tensioner are installed.
