Customer Question

On my 2001 ford f150 my Innova code reader is saying p0340 " cam shift sensor" the engine runs and sounds good until about 3000 rpm and then it falls on its face and back fires and smells like carbon burning what do you think it could be? Obviously if the sensor was gone it wouldn't run
