F 250 HD Power Stroke Diesel 4x4: I have a 1997 F 250 7.3 Power

Customer Question

I have a 1997 F 250 7.3 Power Stroke Diesel HD with a Crew Cab. I just replaced my ball joints and put everything back in the hub (I believe it is the Dana 50 axle). I got to the very end and went to put the outer bearing cap back and it is about a 1/4 inch proud, so I can't the get it seated to put the retaining ring back on. It will move if I press on it but just pop back out. Does this need a press of some sort to get it back in, or do I need to take everything out and start again? I thought it was something I did wrong with the driver side so I did the passenger side and got the same results.

HiI am not quite sure exactly where your stuck. So I am going to start with some diagrams below so you can tell me where the issue is so we are looking and working from the same info. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/90220402/97D50shaft.pdfhttps://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/90220402/97locjmanual.pdfhttps://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/90220402/97lockauto.pdf It may take me 1-2-3-etc... responses to get the information I need resulting in giving you the answer you need. I can't read minds nor have a magic wand, & I'm not there to see, smell, feel, or hear so I need good information to return a good answer. My normal hours online are 3pm-3am. There are 2 services your receiving 1: from Just Answer whom has already collected the deposit/question value 2: from me (not an employee of the website & have no control over anything except what I type.) You will be asked to RATE THE SERVICE, your rating me, my response, not the website, rating has no effect on your payment, and it DOES NOT close the post. A rating IS REQUIRED, if you can't complete the required rating today, let me know why so I can get you exactly what's needed. Thanks Chris
