Ford 1FC: I GOT A 1984 FORD MODEL 1FC (BOX TRUCK) AND THERE

This answer was rated:

I GOT A 1984 FORD MODEL 1FC (BOX TRUCK) AND THERE IS ALOT OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I DISCOVERED THE PLAY IS ALL IN THE STEERING BOX AND CAN SEE THERE IS SOME KIND OF ADJUSTMENT IN TOP OF THE STEEING BOX ITSELF. MY QUESTION IS, DOES THIS ADJUSTMENT SCREW CHANGE THE AMOUNT OF PLAY IN GEARS INSIDE?
Hello! Welcome to justanswer!

Yes, if you loosen the nut and turn the screw in 1/2 turn at a time, it makes the gears mesh tighter. If you go too far, the steering will get stiff. So go 1/2 turn at a time until it feels right.
