Ford Escape XLT 4 cylinder: My 2010 Ford Escape makes a mechanical

This answer was rated:

My 2010 Ford Escape makes a mechanical sounding whining noise while accelerating in drive or in neutral. The dealer said that the "motor had settled in" and it was "normal". I would say it is not normal since i have had 5 Fords and would like a suggested fix?
Its typically a bad belt tenisoner or idle pulley making noise, if you remove the serpentine belt and run it for a minute the noise will go away, the belt tensioner bearing makes noise and is pretty simple to replace from underneath the vehilce when you remove the splash shield.
