Hello and welcome back to justanswer.com
Is the engine light on or does it start to blink when you feel the missfire? DO you have a rough idle or feel the miss at idle? DO you feel the miss more under load while driving?
The light comes on sometimes and runs rough then It will drive fine for a day or so replaced plug wire went light gave that code. Just random everyother day
Yes I do see issues with the ignition coils on your truck. The problem is going to be pinpointing the failed coil since they do not always leave fault codes behind but since you have an engine light we should scan it to see if other cylinders are flagged. I can tell you that in most cases in the end all 8 coils are recommended. Go to your local parts store like pepboys or autozone and have them scan for the stored codes as they will do this at no charge. If no codes are stored you have a couple of options. We would need to read the miss fire counts in what is known as Mode 6 data. A more advanced scan tool is needed to view this data so you would need to take it to a shop that had a Snap On scan tool or equivalent. There the miss fire counts can be viewed and those coils swapped out or replaced to rule it out. The other option is the dealer. They have a power balance setup on the Ford tool which will show which cylinders are the cause of the miss then those can be investigated. Lastly you can replace all 8 coils with Ford parts but I would hate for you to do all that without doing some diagnosis.
Okay should I replace plugs as well as coils and wires while I am at it
Yes I would but we need to be careful when replacing the plugs as there were some issues with the plugs and threads.
Issues what Issues
Sometimes they are seized in there and sometimes the plugs can strip out the holes. I usually spray some WD 40 into the plug well and let it soak in overnight then remove the plugs.
