Customer Question

I have a 2005 freestyle. Today a took it for a drive and everything worked fine. After turning the car off for a few minutes, I tried to restart it and nothing happened. There was a clicking sound behind the fuse box area. Nothing on the car works, no power locks no lights and I can't shift it out of park. Along with the clicking sound, the needles on the gauges twitch. I disconnected the battery and the problem remained. I checked the fuses and from what I can tell, they all seem fine. Do you have any idea what may be the problem.

Hi, I’m Chris. Welcome and thanks for asking your question!

Right now I believe the battery has finally failed and no longer has enough amps to power the car nor start it. All of your symptoms are pointing to the battery at fault. I suggest step one be checking the battery connections for corrosion, then try a jump start. If you have a volt meter, you can check the voltage. A good battery has 12.6 volts. Let me know the outcome in case we need to continue checking the electrical circuit.

Thanks for asking your question. Your helping me pay my bills, and I

am hopefully helping you lower your repair bill or at least informing

you of the repair needed prior to getting it fixed.

You are about to see our rating system. The rating is how I am paid.

No rating and I am not paid. Neutral or Negative rating and I am not paid.

I am only paid once you rate OK or GOOD or EXCELLENT SERVICE.

Please if you need to follow up, only press REPLY TO EXPERT.

You can also reply after rating if needed. I also ask that you do reply

and state which service you wanted to select because there has been

a problem with the rating system.

Thanks Chris
