Hello, I have a 2008 Ford Escape XLT that cam factory without premium sound, navigation, sync or subwoofer. I just added a Kenwood DNX9990HD and love it. However, because I didn't get the factory premium audio package, I only have the 4 speakers installed in all of the doors. I have seen some Escapes with the premium audio that have tweeters or small speakers on the doors opposite where the side view mirrors are. Can I get these for my Escape and connect them to the Kenwood DNX9990HD? I have a photo of the speaker and where it is located as well.

Hello and thanks for using Just Answer.I will try my best to help you with your question.
You will have to order them from the Ford Dealership. Get one for a 2007 Escape. it will come with the pigtail wiring and then connect it to your stereo. The 2008 did not have the tweeter speaker.
What do you mean by pigtail wiring? Can you send me the part numbers for these for the 2007 Escape? Will I have any trouble putting them in my 2008? How will they connect to the stereo?
The pigtail is the wires coming off with the connector to plug into the wiring harness in the door. Cut the connector off and wire it to your new stereo.
As for the part number, I cannot get that till Monday when I get back to work. I do not have access to the Ford parts catalog at home.
So instead of using the connector, I should just wire it right into the stereo? Is this because the 2008 Escape is not equiped for this?I will look at some online parts stores... what would it be called?
They are door tweeter speakers. The Ford ones come with the mirror switch if needed and the bezel that attachés to the door.
Yes just cut the connector off and run your own wires.
Also, because these would go on the door, how would I get the wiring from the door into the vehicle? It isn't possible to plug them into the door? Or is there just no port on the 2008 Escape for the tweeters?Do you recommend doing something else instead of this for tweeters?I looked at a Ford Parts website and under the 2007 Escape, this is all I can come up with for speakers. Should I be looking somewhere else?
The top 2 are the tweeters. The ones that state Audiophile Sound left and right are the tweeters. The lower door speakers are the same for all 4 doors.
Great, but I am assuming this is JUST the speaker? What about the housing? I also need the drivers side to have the mirror control knobs. Can I just purchase the housing and use better aftermarket tweeters?
It will come with the housing and the harness pigtail connector. That is why they are more expensive than the lower speaker. The lower speaker is larger.
Below is a picture of it.
But what about color options and controls for the mirrors??? Maybe it would just be easier to purchase aftermarket tweeters, drill a hole and wire them?
They are all black. The mirror switch will have to be installed in the tweeter panel. It will not come with the switch.
I see now. So no matter what, they are all black, and they have the tweeter and wiring inside? How would I get the mirror controls installed? Just drill a hole and pop it in?
There will be an opening in the tweeter panel to install the mirror switch. You will not have to drill any holes.
Oh really? How come in the photo I sent you there is no hole? Would it just make more sense to purchase two after market tweeters?
The 2007 and older Escapes had power mirror switch lower in the door panel. The 2008 and newer had them in the top of the door panel, hence Ford eliminated the tweeter. My buddy sent me these pictures of how he installs the tweeters from the aftermarket companies.
I am a bit confused, first you said the 2007 tweeters would come with a hole for the mirror switch, now you are saying they don't? Would you recommend I just do what your friend does and go aftermarket? I could probably get better speakers for less. But I like the factory look.
Sorry, my buddy corrected me on the mirror switch. I clicked post before finishing my comments. The last post is correct.
I see, so if I ordered the 2007 tweeters, I would have to find a new place for the mirror switch, or drill a hole in the side of the tweeter? Right?
The 2007 will not fit. You will have to use aftermarket tweeters. The door panels are different and the 2007 tweeter and panels will not fit in the position because the shape of the door panel is different on your 2008.
