O/D off light comes on when I am driving (around 40+ mph, somestimes even at 20mphs...if I turn off the suv and back on, it goes away- goes away from either 30 minutes to 2hrs). Also my 2004 Explorer (88K+ miles on it) jerks forward/backwards as well when shifting from Park to reverse or to drive.

Your problem may take a few conversations to pin point, and we can talk until you are satisfied Hello, the O/D light blinking and the jerking are both most likely the transmission torque converter and the shift solenoid. The easiest way to be sure is to have a reputable shop scan it for codes.. When you have them, post back and we can go from there...Thanks,Brad
The code(s) that I was given are,

DefinitionPressure control solenoid - pressure low conditionECM detected trouble codes P0731, P0732, P0733 and P0734 were set together
Probable causeOpen or short circuit conditionPoor electrical connection
Ok, believe it or not this could be a good thing! Should be able to just drop the pan and check the wiring harness and test the solenoids. Unfortunately, this still requires diagnostic and test equipment at a shop BUT the final bill will be much less then if the trans would have had to be removed.I would shop around at local garages and compare prices before deciding on one so you have a good spectrum of the possible charges.Post back if you have any further questions!Thank you,Brad
