2001 FORD MUSTANG and I get a P1285 code.What is it and how do I fix it?What part will I need and please send a diagram for a simple guy like me.

Thank you for asking your question on JustAnswer. The trouble code P1285 indicates, a possible defective CHT sensor. Before replacing any parts, I always recommend proper testing first. If you need, I can send the test procedures as well as the replacement instructions directly from Ford.

 

 

DTC P1285: EARLY WARNING OF ENGINE OVERHEAT CONDITION

    An engine overheat condition was sensed by the CHT sensor.

  • Check cooling system for:
    • Correct coolant level.
    • Internal or external coolant leaks.
    • Blockage of radiator.
    • Cooling fan operation.
