My 07 powerstroke overheated the other day while pulling a trailer

Resolved Question:

My 07 powerstroke overheated the other day while pulling a trailer and since then I noticed the AC getting hot at idle and there is a thud when it engages along with a 500 rpm drop in power?

It sounds like your fan clutch has failed. This is common on these engines. Also make sure your coolant bottle is full. If not you may have a bad egr cooler or damaged head gaskets. From your description you probably just have a fan clutch issue.

Customer : I had the truck in ford about 7000 miles ago for new heads and it's seccond EGR valve after overheating twice since the first EGR was installed. I was noticing at idle a few minuets ago that I was over heating and the AC was intermittent at best. I turned off the AC and let it keep running and within ten minuets looked again to find the temp at normal range. I am also not hearing the fan clutch engaging like normal so I agree there might be an issue there but what do you think about the AC clutch or pump being an issue? Each time it engages there is a thud throughout the engine and cab.

I am thinking what you might be hearing is the fan clutch kick. The compressor doesn't really draw enough power to kick that hard unless it was locking up. This is possible but then you would have two problems as a locked up compressor shouldn't cause an overheat condition.
