The pick-up will run all day long but will stall when you let off the gas,like when going down a hill or idling at a stop sign. Most times you can keep it running by gunning the motor. At times when it dies going down a hill if you work the gas pedal there is one spot it will take off but it is impossible to hold the pedal at that one spot. Also I replaced the lift pump in the back tank but it acts up no matter what tank I am on

Hello Just Answer customer-I am a Ford Diesel Master Certified Technician. I am here to help you repair your vehicle.Try tapping on the idle air control valve located on the side of the throttle body and see if that helps. When the iac gets stuck it will cause a stall and no start.
