Does the engine run with starting fluid?

How much voltage do you have at the fuel pump while cranking the engine over?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
I actually took the unit out of the tank, put the unit in a gallon of water and saw it pump fluid, blew air through the fuel lines, no blockage, unhooked the fuel line at the filter pump runs no fuel

Then it is going to be something inside the fuel tank. Either right at the fuel pump or maybe you have the power and ground switched going to the fuel pump.

factory connections, new pump wired red to red black to black 11.59 volts with the key on at the pump and it runs
Expert:  AMEDEE replied 4 years ago.
Ok.. then either the new fuel pump is bad or there is fuel going back into the fuel tank for some reason causing no fuel pressure.

checked new pump connected to the harness ,runs as long as the key is in the on position and also the start position
Expert:  AMEDEE replied 4 years ago.
Key on engine off, the fuel pump should not continue to run.
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
it seems all you suggest has already been tried ,code 542 is a open circuit and this is incorrect due to the fact the pump runs with the key in both on and start position
Expert:  AMEDEE replied 4 years ago.
If the fuel pump is running with the key on engine off, then the computer is bad or being shorted out.

Check to see if the TPS has 5 volts with the key on.

If not, try disconnecting the DPFE sensor and see if that helps.
