1996 taurus: an ac line, and recharged the system, and the compressor

Resolved Question:

On a 1996 taurus I just fixed an ac line, and recharged the system, and the compressor constantly cycles. It will only stay on for 2 to 3 seconds then shut off, then come back on again for another 2 to 3 seconds, and keeps doing this. Any Ideas???

32dmadden :

Are you sure the correct amount of freon was added?

32dmadden :

How did it work before the line went bad?

32dmadden :

If you jump the low pressure switch what happens?

Customer:

I have a brand new robin air ac machine, and I put in exactly what the system calls for. I have no idea how it worked before, It came to my shop because of no cool air, I initially charged the system, found the leak, and reclaimed the freon, so I never had it working for me. I will try to jumper the switch and see what happens.

Customer:

With the switch jumpered, it runs constantly, like it should, I must have a bad low pressure switch.

32dmadden :

Sounds like the problem to me

Customer:

I'll put one on and see what happens. thanks

32dmadden :

Have a good one
